USES OF NEC COAL

NEC coal are soft and friable and hence very difficult to extract lump coals during mining. Because of friable nature of coal and slack, generally record high ash content due to admixture  of dirt bands.

The coals are used in various sectors, like power, cement, paper, brick burning, cokaries, tea gardens and other local industries.

Steel Sector :

Strongly caking coals of Makum Coalfield, Assam can be used as a blend     for coke making. 10% Assam coals can be used in the coal blend charge of coke ovens.

Cement Sector :

The sulphur content to the extent of 5% is a burn for the clinker formation technology. The high heating value of coal results improvement in clinker formation by 7 – 12% per day without any increase in capital formation. Also, consumption of gypsum (BaSO4 ) gets reduced. Used in ACC, CCI, Bokajan Cement factories.

Power Sector :

The best way to utilize NEC coal will be by fluidised  bed combustion in Power Plant located centrally in the mining area
